Equipment Assessment & Prescription
Whether it’s help with everyday tasks or testing out the latest gadgets, the right equipment can greatly improve independence and quality of life. Our Assessments are all about understanding the needs of our clients to identify the best solution for the individual.
If you have a medical or physical condition, it’s important to ensure that this doesn’t affect your safety or ability to drive. We have additional post-graduate qualifications to assess a person’s fitness to drive.
Maeve-Ann qualified as an Occupational Therapistin 2007 and has over 14 years’ experience. This experience is across acute and rehabilitation hospital settings as well as in the community, working with clients that have diverse complex disability and medical needs.
With a particular interest and passion for home adaptations, assistive equipment, home assessments and driving assessments, Maeve-Ann helps people strive for independence and reach their potential.
Maeve-Ann loves how rewarding being an OT can be and strongly believes in empowering and supporting clients and their families to enhance their overall quality of life.
We can carry out an assessment with you in your home environment to identify the most appropriate items of equipment and/or building adaptations to assist you to continue doing the activities of daily living that are important to you.
Following this assessment, I provide you with a detailed OT Housing Adaptation and Equipment Report with a recommendations section outlining immediate and long-term solutions to any occupational challenges identified.
If the equipment is recommended, I will provide you with some details that include the make, model, source or likely cost, when possible.
If a building adaptation is recommended, you can use this OT assessment report when applying to your County Council for the Housing Adaptation Grant for People with a Disability or the Mobility Aids Grant.
We believe that driving enables freedom and independence to access the individual's local community to engage in tasks of daily living. Consequently, we want our clients to maintain that freedom, for as long as it is safe to do so; both for themselves and for other road users.
Our assessment will evaluate the safety of both the driver and their interaction with the broader community. The information obtained can be used to support the D501 form completed by your GP when they are signing your fitness to drive.
